Biography

Francis Coletta was born in Marseille on the 28th of October 1957. He received right from the beginning an education in classical guitar and then played in different classical, jazz and pop music orchestras. Amongst others, Francis Coletta played with Michel Legrand, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Sarah Vaughan, Paul Anka, Tomm Scott, Joe Sample, Alex Acuna, Randy Brecker, Niels-Henning Orsted-Pedersen, Joe di Francesco, Alvin Queen, Reggie Johnson, George Robert……
He also accompanied on tour many French pop singers as, for example, Michel Berger and Michel Fugain. German musicians also benefited from his art when he played in such groups as the Pepe Lienhard Band, Udo Jürgens, Catarina Valente.
Actually he’s teaching at the Music Conservatory of Fribourg, as well as at HEMU Jazz Lausanne (Switzerland). He takes part in many recording sessions as arranger, producer and musician. He plays regularly at concerts and festivals.

Recently at Montreux Jazz Festival for Quincy Jones 50th anniversary celebration with : Pepe Lienhard Big Band, Al Jarreau, Patti Austin, Jon Batiste, Rashida Jones, Sunny Levine, Alfredo Rodriguez, Jacob Collier, Grace, Simply Red.
